EDI is the Normandy’s computer the Enhanced Defense Intelligence. In Mass Effect 3, EDI gets a makeover, which puts her in a human body. And blows everyone’s mind! (especially Joker’s). EDI shocks everyone by not only becoming the first known unshackled (no blocks or locks keeping her out of certain ship systems), but by developing actual sentience, self-awareness, and emotional characteristics, not to mention decidedly human traits like altruism, a sense of humor, and compassion.
